How to paint showing depth-of-field with oil paints?

I am painting a very close up image of sweetcorn.

I am painting it from a photograph and as it is so close up, parts of the image are in and out of focus.

I am very keen on recreating this depth-of-field in my painting but don't know how to go about it?

Any tips? Any artists that paint like this? How to paint showing depth-of-field with oil paints?
Foreground should be detailed. The further back you go the lighter and less detailed you should be. Darkest darks and lightest lights should be closer. Don't forget the shadows away from the light.
