What is it like to work as an oil field engineer?

For Schlumberger oil field services company. Or any other. What is it like to work as an oil field engineer?
Not too bad, some of my friends work for Schlumberger, but it depends on what your job is exactly. If its a basic entry level field engineer you may find that it is quite tough as of the current climate at the moment. In a month expect to be working more than 14 days and not having too much time off. As the oil price is very high, most companies are very busy and thus are the people. Its a great time to get started as you progress much quicker than expected. Depending on your qualifications, if you have a degree go into M/LWD or if not go into Wireline. Both jobs are good although wireline is a bit more stressful if things are not going to plan. If you want you can email me and I can suggest which companies to apply to.What is it like to work as an oil field engineer?
If you work for an oil field service company the pay is fair but the hours can be lousy. You tend to be on call 24/7 and most of the time it seems you are needed at night and on weekends.

If you are going to work in the oil field, choose a production company.
oily
In one word... horrible.
